All About Mercedes-Benz 400 SE Pedals and Kits

A 400 SE from '92 can have as many as three pedals: an accelerator (in older luxury cars like yours, sometimes called a throttle; the "gas pedal"), a brake pedal), and a clutch. The throttle speeds the sedan up when pressed; the brakes slow it down; and the clutch lets you change gears when accelerating or braking (assuming you've got a manual transmission, while will have one -- its job being to temporarily disengage the engine and transmission and smooth out the shifting process).

With the right kit, repairing, restoring, and even customizing the pedals in your 400 SE is easy. In fact, you can mod everything about them: the pedals themselves, their covers, linkages, and even the pedal position sensor. You can go several ways: 1. you can outfit an older, more worn pedal with a non-skid rubber cover; 2. you can use a pedal conversion kit with a linkage to swap out an automatic gearbox for a manual one; and 3. you can put in a custom or billet pedal in one fetching finish and texture or another -- for instance, an aluminum one. Just be sure to use OEM parts for the project; they'll be genuine Mercedes-Benz, and so, top-quality and guaranteed to fit, not to mention backed by factory warranty.
