How Could You Possibly Customize a Supercar Like the Mercedes-Benz AMG® GT C?

More than a sports car, your AMG® GT C has it all. Its piece de resistance: a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) transmission pairing, shelling out a blistering 550 horsepower backed by the pulling power of 502 pound-feet of torque. On a rear-wheel drivetrain, that means zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 196 mph.

What more could you want from Mercedes-Benz? For a $155,000 investment in a luxury grand tourer that needs all the protection it can get, a custom project or three, obviously.

Good thing you came to us here at MB Part Source about them. Here's some advice on what to start with.

1. All-Weather Floor Mats

Carpeted floor mats can safeguard your car floors well enough -- both its carpet and the plastics under it. Your AMG® GT C deserves the best, though: floor mats made of rubber or vinyl. All-weather means ruggeder and longer-lasting, after all, so they'll do the job better.

Doing so, they'll provide more than a shield, too. They'll help you avoid having to replace car floors otherwise ruined by everything from dirt and debris from the road to the muck of seasonal changes -- a job than usually runs up a bill of $1,000 or more.

2. Custom Seat Covers

Simple mesh or softer velour or jacquard. More durable canvas or water-resistant neoprene. Even faux (PU) leather or leatherette, sheepskin, acrylic fur, and denim. Whatever the seat covers you prefer are made of, they'll do three things for your seats: give them a stylish, unique look, make them more comfortable, and help keep them in good shape. Some can even help keep the seats cooler in hot weather.

Most importantly, they're a great means of avoiding having to replace the seats because of, say, upholstery damage or spills. That's another job that'll cost you; on average, it runs a few hundred dollars to $500 or more.

3. Window Sunshades

Ultraviolet light creates heat, and usually, on a car interior, it's searing; it'll positively roast premium electronics. Install sunshades above each car door window, though, and you can help cut both. Avoid having to replace fried infotainment and audio systems sooner -- they aren't cheap, after all.
